New Delhi, July 14: Bharat Tex 2026, India’s flagship global textile exhibition, opened today at Bharat Mandapam, marking the beginning of one of the world’s largest integrated textile events. The four-day exhibition brings together thousands of exhibitors, international buyers, policymakers and industry leaders, reinforcing India’s ambition to become a preferred global sourcing destination.
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh inaugurated the event, which is spread across nearly 1.6 million square feet of exhibition space. Bharat Tex 2026 showcases the entire textile value chain, including fibre, yarn, fabrics, garments, home textiles, technical textiles, machinery, dyes, chemicals and textile technology.
The event features business-to-business meetings, buyer-seller interactions, product launches, fashion shows and more than 100 knowledge sessions covering sustainability, innovation, digitalisation and emerging global market trends. Organisers expect the exhibition to generate significant business deals, investment commitments and long-term sourcing partnerships.
India’s textile and apparel industry, currently valued at around $179 billion, is aiming for rapid expansion in the coming years. Industry experts believe the implementation of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement from July 15 will provide an additional boost by improving market access and making Indian textile products more competitive in the UK.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F Vision—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign—Bharat Tex has evolved into a platform that goes beyond trade. It promotes investment, policy discussions, innovation and international collaboration while highlighting India’s growing manufacturing capabilities.
Sustainability remains a major theme this year. Dedicated sessions will focus on circular textiles, recycling, ESG compliance, traceability, renewable materials and evolving global regulations. Technology adoption, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing and innovations in technical textiles will also be discussed extensively.
The exhibition is expected to benefit MSMEs, startups and artisan-led enterprises by connecting them directly with global retailers, brands and sourcing companies. For many smaller exporters, the event provides an opportunity to diversify export markets and showcase India’s strengths in quality manufacturing, design and sustainable production.
As global companies continue to diversify their supply chains, Bharat Tex 2026 offers India a strategic opportunity to strengthen its position as a trusted manufacturing hub. With strong international participation and the India-UK FTA taking effect this week, industry stakeholders are optimistic that the event will translate into higher exports, fresh investments and long-term global partnerships.
