- Aims for transparent, demand-driven fertiliser distribution.
The government has implemented a pilot digital platform for fertiliser distribution across 56 districts in 23 states to improve transparency and make the system more farmer-centric.
The new Framework for Fertilizer Sale has been jointly developed by the Ministries of Agriculture and Fertilisers with the support of state governments.
Under the platform, farmers or their authorised representatives can register through a mobile application, submit land and crop details and pre-book fertiliser requirements.
Once the booking is completed, a QR code-based token is generated, which retailers scan using Point of Sale (PoS) devices before distributing fertilisers through Aadhaar-based biometric authentication.
According to the government, the initiative is designed to integrate land records, crop information and fertiliser demand while improving supply chain efficiency.
The pilot will also work alongside the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS), which enables real-time monitoring of fertiliser movement, allocation, stock availability and supply across the country.
The government expects the digital platform to create a more transparent, organised and demand-driven fertiliser distribution system.
