BMW Group India has expanded its premium vehicle portfolio with the launch of the new MINI Countryman C, a locally assembled petrol-powered crossover priced at an introductory ₹47.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The latest addition to the MINI lineup marks an important milestone for the brand’s manufacturing operations in India. According to Thomas Dose, the Countryman C will be assembled in India through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route at BMW’s Chennai facility, helping the company offer a more competitive price in the premium compact SUV segment.
Bookings for the new crossover have opened across authorized MINI dealerships nationwide, with customer deliveries commencing immediately.
Built on the UKL2 platform, which it shares with the BMW X1, the MINI Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The engine delivers 156 bhp and 240 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels.
The new model features updated styling elements, including a redesigned octagonal front grille, revised front and rear bumpers, adaptive LED headlamps, and distinctive champagne-colored exterior accents. The larger body dimensions also provide improved road presence and a more spacious cabin.
Premium features include:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Head-Up Display (HUD)
- Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
- 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
- Park Assistant Plus with 360-degree camera
- Advanced connectivity and safety technologies
Speaking at the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar said the introduction of the new variant strengthens the company’s premium product portfolio while making the MINI brand more accessible to Indian customers.
The MINI Countryman C is expected to compete directly with premium compact luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and the BMW X1.
