Ericsson and the Telecom Sector Skill Council have opened a Centre of Excellence at Government ITI Govandi in Mumbai to train young people in next-generation telecom technologies.
The centre is expected to train around 300 students during its first year, with a focus on improving technical capabilities, employability and job placement after course completion.
Training will cover 5G, Internet of Things, telecom product-line assembly and handheld-device repair.
The facility is aimed particularly at young people from underserved communities and will provide advanced infrastructure, skill laboratories and industry-aligned training programmes.
Ericsson’s Randeep Raina said the centre seeks to address growing industry demand for professionals skilled in 5G and related technologies.
The programmes will use industry-approved curricula designed to provide students with practical and job-oriented skills.
