New Delhi, September 2, 2026: IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Company has appointed Tatsuya Fujimoto as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership transition at the Indian general insurer.
Fujimoto succeeds Subrata Mondal and moves into the top executive role after previously serving as Director of Operations at the company.
The appointment brings an experienced Tokio Marine Group executive to the helm of the insurer as India’s general insurance market continues to expand across retail, commercial and specialised insurance segments.
Fujimoto has spent 28 years with the Tokio Marine Group, building experience across business operations, marketing, corporate planning, risk management and international assignments.
Of his nearly three-decade career, he spent around 18 years working in Japan, where his responsibilities included marketing, corporate planning and serving as Executive Secretary to the Group CEO.
He has also spent around 10 years working internationally across markets including the United States, Malaysia and India.
Before becoming Director of Operations at IFFCO-TOKIO, Fujimoto served as Senior Executive Director and Chief Risk Officer between November 2024 and June 2025.
His experience in both risk management and operational leadership is expected to provide continuity as he moves into the Managing Director and CEO position.
IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance operates as a joint venture between Indian Farmers Fertilizer Co-operative and Japan’s Tokio Marine Group.
IFFCO holds a 51 per cent stake in the company, while Tokio Marine Group owns the remaining 49 per cent.
The partnership combines IFFCO’s extensive presence and distribution network in India with Tokio Marine’s international insurance expertise.
Fujimoto’s appointment also highlights the growing role of global management experience within India’s insurance industry, where companies are strengthening governance, technology, customer service and risk management capabilities.
His long association with Tokio Marine and previous leadership positions within IFFCO-TOKIO provide him with familiarity with both the global group’s operating standards and the Indian insurance environment.
As Managing Director and CEO, Fujimoto will be responsible for leading the insurer’s overall business strategy, operations and future development.
The leadership change comes as insurers in India continue to focus on expanding distribution, improving digital capabilities and developing products for a growing base of retail and commercial customers.
