Precautions for Flood-Affected Customers
IFFCO-TOKIO GIC has also advised customers to prioritise their safety during and after flooding. People have been advised to avoid entering flooded areas and driving through waterlogged roads wherever possible.
Customers should also stay away from exposed electrical wires and switch off the main power supply if it is safe to do so. These precautions are intended to reduce the risk of further injury or damage during flood conditions.
For insurance claims, policyholders should, wherever possible, take photographs or videos of damage to vehicles, homes, businesses or other insured assets before beginning repairs or disposing of damaged items.
They should also preserve relevant documents, bills and other evidence connected with the loss. Promptly informing the insurance company about the incident can help facilitate the assessment and claims process.
The insurer has emphasised that in emergency situations, personal safety should always take priority. Customers are advised to follow instructions and advisories issued by local authorities while dealing with flood-related incidents.
