New Delhi, August 19: Preparations have started for India Carpet Expo 2026 in Bhadohi, with organisers looking to attract hundreds of international participants and strengthen India’s position in the global handmade carpet market.
The four-day carpet fair and exhibition will be held from October 4 to October 7 in Bhadohi, according to the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), which functions under the Union Ministry of Textiles.
Billed as Asia’s largest carpet fair and exhibition, the event is expected to bring together Indian manufacturers, exporters and international buyers on a common platform.
Buyers From 56 Countries Invited
CEPC Chairman Mukesh Kumar Gomber said around 400 overseas carpet buyers from 56 countries have been invited to participate in the event.
In addition, around 350 representatives of various carpet manufacturing companies are being invited. Their participation is expected to help Indian manufacturers and exporters establish direct business connections and explore new opportunities.
Around 300 carpet manufacturers and exporters from different Indian states are also expected to participate in the expo.
They will showcase their carpets and floor coverings at dedicated stalls and seek orders from domestic and international buyers, potentially contributing to higher exports from the sector.
Carpet Industry Eyes BRICS Opportunity
CEPC is also looking to leverage India’s hosting of the BRICS summit in October to expand commercial relationships with member countries.
CEPC Vice-Chairman Aslam Mehboob said a BRICS delegation is expected to visit Varanasi during the summit-related programme.
The council plans to seek meetings with visiting delegations to showcase the quality and craftsmanship of Indian handmade carpets and floor coverings while exploring opportunities for new commercial partnerships.
Such engagements could help Indian carpet companies diversify their overseas customer base and strengthen their presence in important international markets.
Bhadohi is one of India’s major carpet manufacturing hubs and is internationally known for its handmade carpet industry.
With international buyers and Indian manufacturers expected to participate in large numbers, the council believes India Carpet Expo 2026 could help generate new business orders and reinforce India as a global sourcing destination for carpets and floor coverings.
