New Delhi, June 20: Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to add separate captions to individual slides within a carousel post. The update, called Multiple Captions on a Carousel, is now rolling out to users in India and is expected to change how creators present content on the platform.
Until now, carousel posts supported only a single caption that applied to all images or videos in the post. With the new feature, users can attach unique text to each slide, making it easier to provide context, explanations or storytelling elements as viewers swipe through the carousel.
According to Instagram, users can access the feature while creating a carousel post by selecting multiple photos or videos and enabling the “Multiple Captions” option. Once activated, a separate caption can be added to each slide, allowing information to appear alongside the specific image or video being viewed.
The update is expected to be particularly useful for tutorials, travel diaries, educational content, product showcases and step-by-step guides. Instead of placing all information in a single caption block, creators can now present content in a more structured and engaging format.
Instagram said the feature is designed to improve content organization and make carousel posts more interactive. Since carousel posts are already among the platform’s highest-engagement content formats, the addition of slide-specific captions could help creators increase viewer retention and improve storytelling.
The rollout comes shortly after Instagram introduced another feature that allows users to rearrange posts on their profile grid without deleting and reposting content. Together, these updates give users greater control over how content is organized and presented on the platform.
