New Delhi: Kia India is targeting annual vehicle sales of around 410,000 units by 2030, as the automaker looks to strengthen its presence in the Indian passenger vehicle market through new SUVs, electric vehicles and hybrid models.
The South Korean automaker is aiming for a 7.6% market share in India by 2030, compared with sales of around 280,000 units and a 6.3% share in 2025. Kia plans to expand its Indian portfolio to 10 models by the end of the decade.
A major part of the strategy will be electrification. Of the planned 10-model portfolio, eight vehicles will feature some form of electrified powertrain, including electric and hybrid vehicles. The roadmap includes models such as the Syros EV, Sorento Hybrid and Carnival Hybrid.
Kia India Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing Atul Sood said the company currently has adequate manufacturing capacity to support its growth plans. Kia already has annual production capacity of about 430,000 units in India, providing headroom to increase domestic volumes. The company will reassess its capacity requirements closer to 2030 as domestic sales and exports expand.
Exports are also expected to play a role in improving capacity utilisation. Kia exported around 26,000 vehicles last year and currently supplies vehicles to about 64 countries, according to the company executive.
The expansion comes as Kia records strong momentum in India. Its wholesale sales increased 48.1% year-on-year to 29,042 units in August 2026, while January-August wholesales reached 220,991 units, up 20.1%. The Seltos and Sonet continued to be major contributors.
Kia is also broadening its powertrain strategy rather than relying only on pure electric vehicles. The company is exploring stronger localisation of hybrid technology to make electrified vehicles more competitively priced in India.
Alongside new products, Kia plans to expand its dealer network to 800 locations by 2030, strengthening its reach as it pursues its 4.1-lakh annual sales target.
