Standing Committee to examine the economy, inflation, and investment trends after RBI lowers growth projections
New Delhi, June 21:
Amid rising geopolitical tensions and growing economic uncertainty worldwide, Parliament’s Standing Committee on Finance will conduct a detailed review of the country’s economic situation. The committee has included “Evolving Economic Conditions” as a special subject of study for the financial year 2025–26.
According to the Lok Sabha Bulletin, the committee will consult the Ministry of Finance, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), economists, and other experts to assess economic challenges and explore possible solutions. A comprehensive report will be prepared based on the findings of the study.
The move comes at a time when disruptions in global supply chains, tariff-related uncertainties, and escalating tensions in West Asia are putting pressure on the Indian economy.
The RBI has projected India’s GDP growth at 6.6% for the current financial year, lower than earlier estimates. Rising fuel and fertilizer costs are being viewed as key factors contributing to the expected slowdown.
The committee will closely examine critical issues such as economic growth, inflation, employment, investment trends, developments in the banking sector, and the impact of global events on India’s economy.
