New Delhi, June 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will disburse ₹2,400 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to more than 15 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) on Friday, Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced.
The fund transfer will take place during a special event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Ahead of the disbursement, the Prime Minister is scheduled to interact with selected first-time employees and employers who have benefited from the scheme.
To mark the occasion, regional programmes will also be held across 200 industrial clusters nationwide. During these events, employers and employees will be felicitated, and appointment letters will be distributed to newly recruited workers.
The PM-VBRY scheme has been launched with a total outlay of ₹99,446 crore and aims to generate 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period. The initiative is designed to encourage formal employment and support workforce expansion across sectors.
Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for financial assistance of up to ₹15,000. Employers hiring new workers can receive incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month per employee. Additional benefits are available for up to four years for jobs created in the manufacturing sector to further strengthen employment generation.
According to the Labour Ministry, more than 63 lakh first-time employees have entered the formal workforce under the scheme since August 2025. Nearly 30 percent of these beneficiaries are women, highlighting the programme’s contribution to increasing female workforce participation.
The government also noted that over 80 percent of establishments benefiting from the scheme are small enterprises with fewer than 25 workers, indicating strong participation from the MSME sector.
Officials believe the scheme will continue to play a significant role in promoting formal employment, supporting businesses and strengthening India’s labour market ecosystem.
