Silver prices are drawing increased attention during the festive season as the metal’s lower entry price compared with gold makes it more accessible to a wider group of buyers.
Silver has emerged as an increasingly visible choice among middle-class buyers this festive season, with jewellery, ornaments and idols attracting demand alongside traditional gold purchases.
According to the report, silver’s affordability is an important factor supporting demand. At around ₹2.3 lakh per kg, the metal offers a substantially lower entry point than gold, allowing consumers to participate in precious-metal purchases at a comparatively accessible price.
The report noted that white metals now account for around 25–30% of total jewellery revenue, compared with about 10% two years ago, indicating their growing role in the jewellery market.
Retailers and jewellers are also expanding their silver offerings during the festive period. Products range from ornaments and idols to furniture and other silver articles, broadening the metal’s appeal beyond conventional jewellery.
Some buyers are also looking at silver from an investment perspective, with expectations of further price gains supporting interest in the metal. The report said prices could potentially move towards ₹4 lakh per kg, although such expectations remain forecasts rather than assured outcomes.
The festive season, including Navratri and Dhanteras, is traditionally an important period for precious-metal purchases in India, and silver’s relatively lower price is helping it attract a broader consumer base.
