New Delhi, Aug 12: Tata Group stocks witnessed selling pressure on Wednesday, with shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) falling nearly 4%, after Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran announced that he would not seek reappointment when his current term ends on February 20, 2027.
TCS emerged as the biggest loser among major Tata Group companies, falling 3.71% on the BSE. Tata Consumer Products declined 2.44%, Tata Elxsi fell 2.23%, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles dropped 1.92%, while Tata Steel slipped 1.57%.
Other Tata Group stocks also ended lower. Rallis India declined 0.95%, Trent fell 0.86%, Tata Power slipped 0.53%, Indian Hotels Company lost 0.52%, Tata Communications declined 0.37%, while Titan ended 0.18% lower.
The combined market valuation of these companies fell by ₹45,615.67 crore, with TCS alone suffering an erosion of ₹32,743.69 crore.
The weakness in Tata Group stocks came on a day when the broader market also closed lower. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 187.90 points, or 0.24%, to settle at 77,966.35. The NSE Nifty fell 35.75 points, or 0.15%, to close at 24,435.95.
