India, June 15, 2026: Telegram has rolled out one of its most comprehensive updates to date, introducing smartwatch applications, AI-powered group moderation tools, advanced bot capabilities and enhanced browser features as the messaging platform continues to expand its ecosystem for more than one billion users worldwide.
The latest update brings Telegram to Apple Watch and Android Wear OS devices, allowing users to access key messaging features directly from their smartwatches. Through the new apps, users can send and receive text and voice messages, listen to voice notes, view media and video messages, read conversations, preview locations and send stickers without needing to reach for their smartphones.
Telegram said the smartwatch integration is designed to make communication more convenient for users who are frequently on the move, while maintaining access to core messaging functions across devices.
A major highlight of the update is the introduction of AI Guardians, a new moderation system that enables group administrators to deploy AI-powered bots for managing communities. The AI Guardians can review join requests, guide applicants through customized screening processes and assist moderators in enforcing community guidelines.
The company believes the feature will help administrators maintain safer and more organized discussions, particularly in large groups where manual moderation can be challenging.
Telegram has also significantly enhanced the capabilities of bots by introducing advanced rich-text formatting options. Bots can now create messages featuring inline media, image carousels, tables, headings, nested blockquotes, collapsible sections, footnotes and mathematical formulas. In addition, bot messages can now contain up to 32,768 characters, allowing developers to build more sophisticated tools, documentation systems and AI-powered assistants within the platform.
The update further expands functionality for polls by enabling creators to include clickable links directly within poll options. The feature is expected to help communities provide additional context, references and supporting information alongside voting choices.
Telegram’s in-app browser has also received several upgrades. Users can now open and view Markdown (.md) files directly within the browser without relying on external applications. The platform has also introduced more flexible browser controls, allowing users to decide whether links should open within Telegram or through external browsers.
Additionally, users can create site-specific preferences, selecting which websites should always open inside Telegram and which should launch externally.
