August revenue rises nearly 15 per cent

New Delhi, September 1, 2026: India’s gross Goods and Services Tax collections rose 14.8 per cent year-on-year to around ₹2 lakh crore in August.
Revenue from domestic transactions increased 9.3 per cent to more than ₹1.37 lakh crore during the month.
GST revenue from imports recorded stronger growth, rising 29 per cent to ₹62,604 crore.
The gross Central GST collection stood at ₹38,413 crore, while State GST collections amounted to ₹46,316 crore.
Integrated GST collections exceeded ₹1.15 lakh crore during August.
Refunds rose significantly, increasing 68 per cent to ₹31,795 crore.
After adjusting for refunds, net GST collections stood at ₹1.68 lakh crore, representing year-on-year growth of 8.3 per cent.
The August figures indicate continued growth in indirect tax collections, supported by both domestic transactions and higher revenue from imports.
