Apple has expanded its smartwatch lineup with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The latest wearables bring major upgrades focused on health monitoring, fitness tracking, battery performance and intelligent features.
In India, the Apple Watch Series 12 starts at ₹56,900, while the premium Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at ₹1,09,900. Pre-orders have opened, with the watches scheduled to become available in stores from September 18.
Both models are powered by Apple’s new S11 chip and come with an upgraded health sensing system.
New Health Sensors
One of the biggest changes is the redesigned optical and electrical heart sensing system. Apple has added larger green LEDs and a wider electrode surface, allowing the watches to measure heart rate as frequently as every five seconds during the day.
The watches can also sample heart rate variability much more frequently than earlier models. Apple claims the new system delivers its most accurate heart rate sensing yet.
However, hypertension notifications will not be available in India at launch. The feature is expected to arrive later after receiving the required regulatory approvals.
New Readiness Score
Apple has also introduced a new Readiness feature that provides users with a daily score ranging from 0 to 10.
The score is calculated using recent physical activity, training load, sleep and other health metrics. Depending on the result, the watch can suggest whether users should recover, take things easy or continue with their planned activity.
The score can also change during the day as fresh health and fitness data is recorded.
Battery and Fitness Improvements
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is designed for users involved in outdoor activities and endurance training. Apple claims it can track workouts for up to 45 hours in its longest tracking mode.
The Series 12, meanwhile, offers up to 24 hours of normal battery life and around 10 hours of outdoor workout tracking.
New Smart Features
Apple is also bringing new audio-based intelligence features later this year. These include Sound Recognition for identifying alarms and doorbells, along with Siri-based summaries and other contextual features.
Apple says audio processing for these features will happen on-device with a focus on privacy.
The latest watchOS 27 will further add new software features to supported Apple Watch models.
