Blackstone-backed ASK Investment Managers has entered into definitive agreements to acquire SageOne Investment Managers in a deal estimated at Rs 1,500-2,000 crore, creating a combined asset management platform with around Rs 85,000 crore in AUM.
Mumbai, Sep 30 — Blackstone-backed ASK Investment Managers has signed definitive agreements to acquire SageOne Investment Managers as it looks to strengthen its equity investment business. While the companies did not disclose the official transaction value, people familiar with the matter estimated the deal at between Rs 1,500 crore and Rs 2,000 crore.
As part of the transaction, SageOne founder and Chief Investment Officer Samit Vartak will reinvest an undisclosed amount in ASK and take over as Chief Investment Officer for equities at the combined asset management business. Blackstone will continue to remain the majority shareholder of the merged platform.
Founded in 2012, SageOne Investment Managers has more than Rs 9,000 crore in assets under management across portfolio management services and alternative investment funds. Following the acquisition, the combined AUM of the merged business is expected to reach around Rs 85,000 crore.
The transaction is subject to regulatory and investor approvals. The deal is also expected to strengthen ASK Investment Managers’ investment capabilities, distribution network and access to global institutional relationships.
SageOne’s Core Portfolio has delivered annualised returns of 25.3% between April 1, 2012 and August 31, 2026, compared with 13.8% for the BSE 500 TRI, according to the company. Over the last three years, the portfolio generated annualised returns of 19.4%, against 12.1% for the benchmark.
ASK Group founder and chairman Sameer Koticha described the acquisition as a strong strategic fit, highlighting SageOne’s research-led investment approach and disciplined execution.
