BIRC 2026 Expands Knowledge Network
New Delhi, September 9, 2026: The Indian Rice Exporters’ Federation (IREF) has partnered with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), EY and S&P Global as knowledge partners for the upcoming Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2026.
The conference is scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from October 23 to 25. According to IREF, 3,317 buyers from 138 countries had registered for the event as of August 30.
The three knowledge partners will bring different areas of expertise to the global rice industry forum. IRRI will contribute scientific research and knowledge covering rice production, farming systems, climate resilience and sustainable agricultural practices.
S&P Global will provide expertise in commodities, market intelligence, trade and global economic data. Its contribution is expected to help industry participants better understand factors influencing rice prices, including production, weather, inventories, government policies, trade flows, freight costs and demand from importing countries.
EY will contribute business and strategic expertise, focusing on how market and research insights can be converted into commercial decisions. Areas such as new markets, trade policy, documentation, insurance, credit, processing economics and value-added products will be part of the broader discussions.
BIRC 2026 has planned nine dedicated knowledge sessions covering key issues across the rice value chain. These include global demand and supply outlook, price forecasting, new market opportunities, payment and credit risks, shipping, quality and certification, trade policy, sustainability, milling profitability and value-added products.
IREF said the partnerships are particularly relevant as the rice industry faces changing global demand, volatile prices, evolving trade policies, rising logistics costs and increasing sustainability requirements.
The conference aims to connect scientific research, market intelligence and business strategy with the practical decisions being made by farmers, millers, exporters, processors, logistics providers, financial institutions and overseas buyers.
The federation said the objective is to move beyond information sharing and create actionable knowledge that can help industry participants make better decisions on markets, pricing, risk, investment and competitiveness.
