News Story
New Delhi: Indian smartphone maker Lava has partnered with e-commerce platform Flipkart to launch the Virat smartphone series, a new lineup designed specifically for online-first consumers across India.
The collaboration aims to combine Lava’s domestic design and manufacturing capabilities with Flipkart’s digital marketplace and nationwide distribution network to expand the reach of Indian-made smartphones.
The Virat series marks Lava’s strategic push into the online smartphone segment, building on the company’s reported 74% growth in online sales during 2025. The new lineup is expected to cater to consumers in metropolitan cities as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.
According to the companies, the Virat series will span multiple price segments, ranging from below ₹10,000 to ₹25,000, with both 4G and 5G variants available to meet diverse consumer needs.
The smartphones will focus on three key areas: extended battery life with up to two days of usage, AI-powered camera capabilities, and processors optimized for smooth everyday performance.
Lava and Flipkart said the partnership goes beyond conventional retail distribution, with both companies jointly planning product positioning and market strategy to strengthen the presence of Indian-built smartphones in the competitive domestic market.
The companies are expected to announce detailed specifications, pricing, colour options, and launch timelines closer to the official release.
