Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and urged citizens to promote Swadeshi by purchasing at least one Khadi product on October 2.
New Delhi, Oct 2 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti, saying Bapu’s thoughts have inspired people across the world and continue to remain relevant as long as they remain connected with humanity.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on Swadeshi and said Khadi remained one of the strongest symbols associated with that idea.
Modi urged people to purchase at least one Khadi product on October 2 and take pride in calling it Swadeshi. The appeal linked Gandhi’s legacy with greater public participation in promoting indigenous products.
He also said Gandhi’s message should continue to guide society towards a better future and a Viksit Bharat. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said Bapu’s timeless message should keep guiding the country towards a better society.
The tribute formed part of the Prime Minister’s Gandhi Jayanti messages on October 2, 2026, when he also highlighted Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, compassion and service.
